A great apple pie to enjoy with a latte....after Pilates class of course!

Ingredients
  • For the crust
  • ⅔ cup shortening
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup water
  • For the fillings
  • 8 cups apples
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • sprinkle of nutmeg
  • 4 ½ teaspoons of corn starch
Instructions
  1. To make the crust: Cut chilled shortening and butter into flour and salt with a pastry cutter. Then slowly add water and stir with a fork until combine. Separate into two balls and chill before rolling.
  2. To make the filling: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Then another 35-45 minutes at 350 until golden.
